To get this achievement you are required to collect all of the Sparks throughout the game. There are 2 in each level (of which there are 5, so 10 Sparks in total). How can you find them:
1) In each level you'll come across 2 ghost-like platforms that are originally locked and can only be unlocked when finding the spark.
2) Sparks resemble blue-like bulbs with a spiral going through them. Usually these can be spotted from far away with the zoom-in function OR they are well hidden on spots that probably look difficult to get to.
3) Just run into them and they will automatically unlock a new part as well as being a speedrun for after the story!
Collecting all of them reveals the secret ending. Any left-behind in a cycle is a guaranteed normal ending, BUT! You can grind for them by simply going back into the desired level, as often it's simply impossible to collect both in one take of a stage since some of them are on different paths that are hard to get back to! Just make sure to have all of them collected within the same cycle, as once you get to the ending without all of the Sparks you'll need to do ALL over again if you really keep on going to the end and activate the tower system.

Personally judging from the revealed information on the 5 towers, it simply seems as if the darkness is what lies up on the planet and inside before going to the tower. It invaded and destroyed most life on the planet with the exception of the tower which is seemingly secured. People were send into this world (somehow) with only one having set up the system, and the one able to pass through all of this is also the one who breaks the deadlock, which literally means:
Breaking the lock that kept the planet dead.
The end just shows that this is the cycle of the planets, and is most likely a theory some or all of the developers believed in, much like many believe in the Big Bang.
