Deadnaut : Signal Lost 'Final Mission' - Is this all I'm worth?
3It should go without saying, but SPOILERS. Obviously. Then again if you're looking at a video that says 'Final Mission' in the title, you know where you're going to end up.
Horror is one of the easiest genre's to pull a player into. You just mix mystery with atmosphere, add some intrigue and a monster and presto, you've got the player's attention.
The hard part of horror is creating an ending or reveal which doesn't disappoint. I feel like Deadnaut's ending is pretty good. Not amazing, but better than the vast majority of horror out there which tries just way, way too hard. Here I am adding in a lot more emotion than the game gives, but because of the very peculiar coincidence of my screen cracking and making my normally edgy, angsty OC look listless as though resigned to their fate, I couldn't help myself. I mean, the screen is pretty distorted, but whatever. It certainly enhanced my experience for that final bit. Might have to record a full playthrough on hard.
Also the god damned rover in the hallway was so damn bizarre.
