Hattie Lewis (née Campbell; born January 15, 1834) was the daughter of Augusta and Charles Campbell. She was the elder sister of Jake and Ben. In early 1847, Hattie's father decided to move the family out west. They endured a grueling six month journey, before settling in Oregon City, Oregon.

Dear America: Friend to Friend is a PC game based on Scholastic's historical fiction series, Dear America. The game features narratives from six of the books.

The game allows the player to interact with six heroines in Dear America, including Remember "Mem" from A Journey to the New World, Abigail from The Winter of Red Snow, Hattie from Across the Wide and Lonesome Prairie, Clotee from A Picture of Freedom, Zipporah from Dreams in the Golden Country, and Margaret Ann from Voyage on the Great Titanic. The player uses an instant messaging system and chooses a predetermined question to ask one of the girls. Depending on what questions the player chooses, the girl's story may change.

Dear America: Friend to Friend is an interactive historical adventure that lets kids learn about and "chat" with six extraordinary girls from the past. Using FriendLink Technology, kids can have conversations and develop friendships with girls like Clotee, a slave girl seeking freedom in 1860, Zipporah Feldman, a Jewish immigrant and aspiring actress in New York in1905, and Hattie Campbell, a pioneer roughing it on the Oregon frontier in1848. Hear their unique stories, accompanied by beautiful 3-D graphics and period music. Write in a private journal, discover inner strengths through inspiring personality quizzes, and explore the worlds of the different characters to find hidden collectibles. With FriendLink Technology, you can chat with your favorite Dear America heroines, ask questions, and listen to their stories unfold (no Internet connection is required). Your responses influence the replies.
