Deconstructing Video Game Violence | Hotline Miami Retrospective
Ever since they went commercial in the 70's, video games have had a fascinating, complex, and sometimes troubling relation with violence. As games evolved, they began to allow players to perform acts of graphic, brutal violence much to the delight of fans — and anger of concerned citizens. The relationship between video games and violence is controversial and has been fiercely debated, but in this video, I want to explore a series that is infamous for its gruesome, gorey violence and explore why I think it's actually a satire and critique of its own concept. This is the Hotline Miami retrospective, analyzing its themes and narrative as well as how it provides a commentary on video game (and real-world) violence. #HotlineMiami #DennatonGames #WrongNumber
