Earlier on its initial release of trailer ubisoft has announced Assassin's Creed Mirage release date in early 2023 however ass per Insider gaming the game has already been delayed twice.
The Insider gaming has learned that the game (Assassins Creed Mirage) is currently scheduled to release in August 2023.
Understandably, these dates are tentative and subject to change, but the August date was initially set to be much sooner in the year with the game (AC Mirage) now internally being delayed twice.
The 2023 date already meant that the series will be moving from its now two-year gap between games. But, an August target suggests that we could be getting Assassins Creed Mirage three years on from AC Valhalla if it’s delayed again by a couple of months.
With Assassin’s Creed Mirage set to release on both past-gen and current-gen consoles, it’s possible that this could be causing issues due to hardware limitations.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set to release in 2023 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. The game will be smaller than a traditional Assassin’s Creed title and will cost $49.99 for the standard edition.
Insider Gamig were unable to give updates on why Mirage was internally delayed twice but had given updates on some other Assassin’s Creed titles. One of the key takeaways mentioned was that Assassin’s Creed Project Red was facing some issues in development. Which we already discussed in deatiled when we released our video abour harassment of developers of codename red and we also mentioned that the developers were refraining from working on the project and this may be one of the reasons to delay mirage for a few more months. As employees were leaving the codename red project because of abuse allegations.
On the other hand the report isn't all bad news as Assassin's Creed Hexe is doing well and has reportedly been received with overwhelming positivity during its proof-of-concept stages and could start full production soon. As for release dates, sources have said that Codename Red should release in 2024 with Hexe in 2026, but due to Red’s current issues, it’s not clear if those dates could be pushed back; but we wouldn’t be surprised if Red goes to 2025.
Release windows aren't uncommon in the gaming industry. It proves that developers aren't sure about when their game is going to be ready. It's not necessarily a bad thing, as the games that are said to be complete soon still don't have a release date. Case in point, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Final Fantasy 16, and Diablo 4.
The report explains that Ubisoft has encountered several development issues affecting the release date of the upcoming Assassin's Creed installment. It speculates that the decision to release Mirage on both last-gen and current-gen consoles is a major factor.
It's crazy to think how Ubisoft's marquee stealth-action franchise has gone from an annual release to this. The last mainline Assassin's Creed game, Valhalla, came out two years ago. However, in the interim, Ubisoft has made changes as well. Valhalla enjoyed more than two years of content support, recently welcoming its final DLC. Ubisoft could support Mirage for just as long but the report is hinting at the minute possibility the game could get pushed out of its current release window.
The worst-case scenario is 2023 will be the first time in years a new Assassin's Creed game or a DLC for a game won't come out.
Hopefully, things don't get to that point. Better yet, we're hoping Ubisoft has some form of a showcase for Assassin's Creed Mirage planned at The Game Awards on December 8 or for Assassin's Creed day on December 21.
