Defying Gravity from WICKED by Stephen Schwartz arranged for string quartet by Alison Gillies.

Defying Gravity is the song of the climactic Act 1 finale and is arguably the best song from the show. It has had a recent resurgence thanks to Universal Pictures' 2024 film adaptation, starring British actress Cynthia Erivo and American singer Ariana Grande as Elphaba and Glinda respectively.

This arrangement has been transposed into D major to make it more string-player friendly and omits the slower middle section of the song.
