They have a monster in a lake. Which I'm going to say is not a terribly convenient guard creature. Dogs: Largely portable. Can defend pretty much any home. Some of them are little too friendly. Good dogs. Not great as guards but large kraken like sea creature? You gotta hope the thing you don't want people getting at is beyond said creature because relocating that beast is going to be a right pain.
