About the game: The Fabulous Fear Machine is a narrative-driven strategy game with a pulp horror style. As the Machine's new Master, you must sow fear and expand your influence by playing Legend cards, harvesting resources, dealing with events in the simulation, and spying on your enemies.

My thoughts: Cool concept and visually brilliant - It was like playing in a graphic novel - but it missed the mark for me in so many ways. I didn't finish the demo because I simply wasn't enjoying it enough to continue playing it.

Maybe I just didn't understand how to play properly and that's on me, but it felt repeptitive, boring and like I was simultaneously not being taught well by the tutorial so I was getting frustrated by not being able to do things I thought I would be able to do and also micro-managed by a guy who couldn't just choose one spot on the screen (goddamit).

Overall, it was an interesting concept and I think many people would enjoy this kind of game but the demo just really wasn't for me. And that's OK.
