[DEMO] The Long Way Home (pt. I) [ALTER/EGO]
3So I guess I make music again. I guess, at least.
I've had this song existing in my head for a few years now - knowing it was part of a larger piece. So I thought it was about time I start putting those ideas into a DAW and churning them out.
Considering this is a part-one, it should be apparent that the other five parts aren't done yet.
In fact, most of the hypothetical dream-album this song is a part of isn't even close to done. About half of it exists in a realm of ideas still. The other half exists in a whole lot of unpolished demos. This just happened to be the bit with more polish at the moment. Eventually it may even shine.
The words are somewhat unclear at points in this demo. I kind of don't want to provide a transcript because they aren't finished yet and I want to revise them a bit. Hence why it's just a demo.
You're going to be hearing that a lot...

The limitations of a vocal-synth were known to me when I started this project. But I'll just keep at it for now. Alter/Ego is quite a cool bit of tech. It's like Vocaloid software. Only cheaper, and less iconic. But I'm quite happy with what is made possible with the software, and the free voice-banks; Marie Ork and Bones.
So here we are with a part-one out of five, for what is to be the last track on an album (if I ever finish it).
If it's well received, I might do some more demos with low-effort videos. I'm just not feeling too inspired for remixes right now. Maybe when we get some new Switch titles later this year. Just for fun :D
I suppose I can give some information about the story being told here - or at least what I intend while I panic and put the rest of the pieces together.
It's in the aftermath of a great tragedy. One character stands alone in the ruin and comes to realise they no longer have a place in the city. And so she decides to leave. The only place left for them is the very place they were running from throughout the story. Home.
Ambiguous, I know. But that's how it is until every part is finally revealed.
