Demons Souls (PS5) Boss #2: Phalanx
3After picking up a PS5, Demons Souls was always the top of the list in terms of early pickups. I played though the original on the PS3 and what they've done with this remake is spectacular. Its hard but I'm finding it easier to play though than the PS3 version, I'm not sure if this is because I'm now a veteran of souls games or some gameplay tweaks seem to have made this more accesable, it certainly seems less clunky than its forbear and also a little less brutal. I suspect it's a mixture of all these factors. It's an amazing showcase of what the PS5 can do, with amazing detail in the graphics and also stunning lighting effects, very atmospheric.

Anyway, it's boss time, I didn't include the first boss from the prologue because I didn't beat him! I think we do meet him again later in the game as a sub boss (The vanguard demon). I forgot that the Phalanx boss is weak to fire attacks so use terpentine and firebombs to weaken his defenses (these can be picked up from the level and also from the Dregling merchant shop midway through the level) - the shelled enemies called Hoplites. Keep moving as the Hoplites are slow, then pick them off, Phalanx will regenerate HP but once all his defenses are gone just hack away at the central boss, should easy work after that. After this point you'll receive his soul, you can then go back to the Nexus and power up your character. I chose not to use the Phalanx Demons Soul, as you can use it for building a weapon later.....
