It doesn't take long to realise Desert Breaker is an unashamed rip-off of Capcom's Mercs. Sure, it might throw in some additional sprite scaling effects and gives the player a dash attack, but the inspiration for this game is pretty blatant. It's also way harder than Mercs, often to the point of being ridiculous.
Despite decent production values and a lot of polish, I just didn't enjoy Desert Breaker. The tortuous boss fights, flitting around in confined areas of the screen, were the final straw for me; Mercs was difficult enough, but this goes a step beyond. It might be better in multiplayer, but as far as single player goes, it's a "No" from me.
