Desk of Ladyada - quad rotary reader and a touch of testers
This weekend at the Desk of Ladyada, we've finally gotten to an older design delayed the chip shortages: this Stemma QT board has *four* rotary encoders with buttons and neopixels. we're testing it with three normal metal encoders and one nifty 'clear' encoder which allows an underlighting LED to glow through. we've also got some testers to work on including one for our new low-profile CHOC keyswitch breakouts, and a demo to put together for the ANO rotary encoder QT board we're going to stock next week.
The Great Search - Color Sensor to Replace TCS34725
https://www.digikey.com/short/5mphn0bj
The chip shortage may be winding down but there are still a few parts that didn't make it to the other side. To wit: the TCS34725 color sensor, a mainstay in so many Adafruit projects (https://learn.adafruit.com/products/1334/guides) has been discontinued (https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/ams-osram-usa-inc/TCS34725FN/3737685). We loved this sensor as it had a few nice things going for it: Red/Green/Blue and Clear diode sensors, IR blocking/cut filter, INTerrupt output, I2C communication, and a low cost of under $2 in quantity. We may not be able to get the exact same sensor but let's try to find something with as much overlap as possible.
