All of the rifle primaries sucked a dick pre-patch when used from the air, and not much has changed. I understand why there is such a discrepency between the rifles and handcannons in terms of aerial accuracy, but AR's are still garbage for all of the reasons I listed in my "Fixin Auto Rifles" video (mediocre optimal TTK, strict precision requirements, commitment to an engagement, other weapons operate in their intended ranges better, lack or range).

Icarus on an AR does have the potential to be really good, though. Handcannons are not good in "panic situations," and so flying in and landing the first shot with an AR might and throwing your enemies into a panic may be enough for them to overcome the TTK barrier between them and the meta handcannons.

I mean, landing the first shot generally ensures you win the gunfight, but handcannons are a bit of a wild card since they get 3 opportunities to get their optimal TTK with a headshot, and AR's have to be relentlessly perfect. So you can still lose if you land the first shot, but you stand 0 chance if you don't. So use Icarus to land the first shot from the air and hope they miss.
