A 1-credit clear of the arcade game Devil World. Score: 219,400. Played with WolfMAME 0.230 on rom [devilw]. A little like Gauntlet, with Gradius-style upgrade shopping. It has some super-cool touches and vignettes, but it's also really jank. The US version, Dark Adventure, is an impossible game for aliens. This one is easy-ish if Metropolis behaves. (Doors might take you forward to the next level...or back to Metropolis...or back one level to re-fight the dragon!) The other trouble spots are: The volcano level (if the key spawns near the volcano, good luck dodging one-hit kills), the lava platform level (once you jump, you can't control where you land), the collapsing-platform level...and of course the final level! If you have good Metropolis and volcano RNG, and handle jumping over lava, this is very doable. Laser is probably a better weapon early game (easier to take out pesky bats) but bazooka is your BFF for the last battle. Jumping, then turning and shooting in midair, means you can attack while moving away from certain death.
