DFFOO [GL]: Challenge from The Brothers, CHAOS - Cloud, Yuffie, Warrior of Light (Klay)
The Brothers do not play around. They are resistant to way too many things: Magic, Delay, & Target Lock. This makes many characters unusable in this fight. It can be a little tricky, but there are plenty of viable team setups to get it done.
Yuffie is the obvious MVP for this fight. This is her EX debut, after all. Her buff/debuff shenanigans gimp the brothers like no one else.
No Yuffie? Bring Faris. Cannon Fire will take out the Brothers Sign Of Virture buff with ease. The Brothers are weak to water, so Waterwhirl & Whirlpool will be vital assets to you.
Cloud works wonders here. To this day he is one of the heaviest single target hitters we have, and you can't go wrong with stuns & well timed launches. With his World of Illusions weapon passive equipped, Cloud will be knocking buffs off the Brothers with every turn.
WoL will protect you, like he always does. The Brothers hit hard, and spam aoe brv very often. Shining Shield will be your saving grace, even at 0/3.
More buff control? Balthier, is another fine Yuffie Substitute. Like Yuffie, Balthier can steal the Sign of Virture buff, and dispell whatever else the brothers put on.
Bartz, the other half of Yuffie's banner, is also great here. The brothers will get massive brv gain if they happen to break you, and Bartz' Missile will take it out quick. He brings tons of battery for the rest of your team to hit hard and avoid breaks, with an EX quick charge on the level of Quistis.
In addition to the Sign of Virture buff the brothers put on themselves, then can also inflict a framed debuff on your party called Weight.
Weight, is: atk down, def down, speed down, & int brv down - all rolled into one.
For this reason, Lenna could also be a good option to outright avoid this nonsense. Yes, she doesn't hit very hard, but with the right team setup, she could do wonders for your team, and keep you all in fighting shape.
Despite the Delay negation, Tifa still works great here. She has high damage output, skill recovery, and a launch that hits like no one else can. Pair her with proper battery, and she can still get the job done.
Despite Magic Resist, Rosa will not be held back in this fight either. Her int brv and attack auras are currently unmatched by anyone else in the game, with healing and battery to boot. Take advantage of her hp attack, as it also batteries the team.
Magic resist? Earth absorb? No delays? Believe it or not, Y'shtola can still hold her own here despite this. Whatever you do, DO NOT use stone when the Brothers unite. All you will do is give them brv to hit you with.
Feel free to spam stones as needed while they are seperated, as the delay works in phase 1, but be aware that the absorb still takes effect, and be careful.
If you go the Ysh route, take advantage of her Last Stand. It will save you.
One thing to keep in mind, and use to your advantage: The Brothers do not have ANY aoe hp attacks in their arsenal. Every hp attack they inflict is single target.
Just focus. It's not as bad as it seems. Monitor the buffs/debuffs, and do your best not to get broken. If you're in a position where a break is inevitable, watch the turn order. Make sure they don't put you in a position where them breaking you results in another immediate turn for them, because that will guarantee death for one of your characters.
So go get 'em, and good luck!
