The best Avoiding DC method I know off. The 20-sec rule I like to call it. You can open the lobby, glaring at games while you wait, I don't think that matters.

If you log out to fast/abuse the log in to test it, you usually get temp banned in around 5-10 char switches in rapid successions, annoying :) Lost to much stuff from this over the year's.
