The sword frequently procs nova dealing fire damage. The range of the nova is short, so it is more useful for melee classes. Currently, only Crusaders prefers 2 handed weapon over 1 handed weapon thanks to the Heavenly Strength passive. (Other classes get higher damage by dual wielding or using 1 handed weapon + off-hand.) In fact, it is actually one of the best weapons for Crusaders!

[patch 2.1 update] Explosion weapon damage increased from 130-160% to 1800-2000%

Legendary items that directly deal damage should now all properly benefit from the appropriate +% Elemental Damage item affix, including: Scourge - +%Fire Damage

Also, the damage of all 2 handed weapon was increased by 26-30%, so now it can be a good weapon for Barbarians and Monks as well!
