611Star Wars Battlefront 2 had its content updates ended this year, 2020. It brought to a close 2 and a half years of an incredible turn around for Battlefront. This end came quite abruptly though. And when information arose that Battlefield 6 is coming out next year and that devs from Battlefront were moving to that game, well it caused some anger and frustration. Especially considering support for Battlefield 5 was ending as well.
To some Battlefront fans this looked as if their game was being sacrificed for DICE's other big franchise, Battlefield. But is that really the case? And how much merit was there for Sat Wars Battlefront 2 living on? Well let's talk about it.

Star Wars Battlefront II is an action shooter video game based on the Star Wars film franchise. It is the fourth major installment of the Star Wars: Battlefront series and seventh overall, and a sequel to the 2015 reboot of the series. Upon release, Battlefront II received mixed reviews from critics, with praise for the multiplayer, gameplay, balancing, visuals, and variety but criticism for its single player modes, campaign, the micro-transactions and loot boxes. The game was also subject to widespread criticism regarding the status of its loot boxes, which could give players substantial gameplay advantages if purchased with real money. A response from EA's community team on Reddit on the topic became the single most down-voted comment in the site's history – and in response, EA decided to temporarily remove microtransactions from the game until a later date. In January 2018, EA announced that the microtransactions would return "in the next few months"] These returning microtransactions are purely cosmetic, do not affect gameplay, and are purchased directly through in-game currency rather than through loot crates.
Since its release, the game received numerous content updates regularly, which greatly increased the player community. The last major update was on April 29, 2020, when it was announced that regular content updates would stop. A petition, which has reached over 100,000 signatures, was started to get more support for the game and to continue content updates.
