Did you hear what happened in Boston?
When a teenaged boy unarmed
Was hit with the butt of a weapon
And fell bleeding to the ground
Word spread quickly
People gathered in the streets
Calling out for justice
Sick and tired of the police
Business owners boarded up
As the protest grew unruly
The cops called reinforcements
Who came armed to the teeth
The assembly was deemed unlawful
And ordered to disperse
The protesters starting throwing stuff
But the cops did something worse
They opened fire on the crowd
They ended up killing five
They justified their actions saying
That they feared for their lives
The year was 1770
The cops were the Red Coats
The first man to die
For the flag we hold high was a black man
Yes Crispus Attucks was the first to die
In the Revolutionary War
Which started that day in an event we call
The Boston Massacre
If while hearing me sing these words
You thought, “Hey they should’ve dispersed.”
Or “protesters with crude weapons
Are bound to get what they deserve”
Then you my friend are for tyranny
You’d have loved King George the third
And please don’t pretend differently
When you’re calling out for blood
