Did You Know In PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD’S END…
The young boy being hanged is historically accurate! In the opening scenes of the movie we see a large group of people lining up to be hanged for being convicted of piracy or being associated with those who are convicted of piracy. One of the people to be hanged is a very young boy, and while it may seem to be a bold move by Disney to include the scene, it is historically accurate. 18th century Britain had a capital code that punished adults and children equally, so much so that one of the crimes that had a death sentence was “strong evidence of malice in a child aged 7-14 years of age.”
