0This animal can emit blue light in the dark, this animal is a scorpion. This phenomenon is caused by a fluorescence compound in the scorpion's cuticle (outer layer). Fluorescence is the ability of scorpions to emit blue-green light when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light or black light. Fluorescence for scorpions is very useful because it can help scorpions find each other in the dark, avoid each other, to confuse prey and protect them from parasites!
