Currently, all “poor” countries are bunched as Third World Countries, however the differences between them can be as great as the differences between these countries and the First World countries.
Consider Thailand and Malaysia. These 2 countries are more or less at the top of the list of Third World countries. People don’t lack food. The roads are good, schools are reasonable, phone infrastructure is good, electricity and sewers not so much. There are some social services, namely medical, although still far from Europe, Singapore or Japan. Hospitals are reasonable. There is a pension scheme, again much less than in developed countries, but it exists. They have good airlines and in-country tickets are affordable to a sizable segment of the population. Their GDP is at the top level of this class of countries.
Now, cross the border to Myanmar. You go back 100–200 years in all areas of life. Take into account 2 days to travel a few hundred kilometers, either by car or by train. The vast majority of people cannot afford to fly. Daily subsistence is not a given and most people are underfed. Infrastructures are uniformly bad or very bad and social services almost non-existent. Foreigners are not allowed to visit their hospitals. Their GDP is much, much lower than in Thailand or Malaysia
The term "Third World" arose during the Cold War to define countries that remained non-aligned with either NATO or the Warsaw Pact. The United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Western European nations and their allies represented the "First World", while the Soviet Union, China, Cuba, and their allies represented the "Second World". This terminology provided a way of broadly categorizing the nations of the Earth into three groups based on political and economic divisions. Since the fall of the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War, the term Third World has decreased in use. It is being replaced with terms such as developing countries, least developed countries or the Global South. The concept itself has become outdated as it no longer represents the current political or economic state of the world and historically poor countries have transited different income levels.
