Dig Dug II is the kind of game that belonged in an arcade setting: simple, easy-to-pick-up gameplay, a short loop of unique maps, and a difficulty curve clearly meant to gobble up quarters. My look at the game was brief and unsatisfying, but it serves as an appetizer for the main course: BATTLETOADS!
Battletoads sports a rad group of heroes, cool attack animations, and just enough gameplay variety to keep the experience fresh each time you play it. I didn't get very far, but I still enjoyed my brief time with it, and can understand why Rare wanted to revisit it on modern consoles. Not that it excuses what they made of that revisit...
