Created by necessity.

GOAL:
Dig Straight Down in a 1.18 world.

RULES:

1 - Create new world. Use the following seed;
Dig Straight Down 2022
Gamemode Creative
Hard difficulty
Map Mods are allowed on this challenge.

(If you are on Java and are using the datapack, skip to step 4)

2 - Turn on Keep Inventory in game rules

3 - Give yourself the following items;

Diamond Pick enchanted with Efficiency V and Fortune 3.
Diamond Shovel enchanted with Efficiency V and Fortune 3.
Grab a few Night Vision Potions if you want things to be lit up when you are digging.

4 - (this will be handled by the Teleporter Stick in the datapack)
Issue the spreadplayers command to teleport to a random location in the world;

Java users: /spreadplayers 0 0 500 3000 false @p
Bedrock: /spreadplayers 0 0 500 3000 @p

Please Note: In java, you will be teleported onto the surface of the world. In Bedrock, you will be teleported high up in the air because ... reasons.

Bedrock users: Be sure to switch to Creative mode when using the spreadplayers command.

5 - Wherever you land, that is your dig spot. No adjusting unless you're up in a tree and want to avoid chopping wood.

Bedrock users: Switch to Survival Mode before digging.

6 - Dig Straight Down 'til you die or you hit Bedrock.
if you die or hit bedrock, go back to step 4 and repeat until you have dug 5 holes.

7 - After digging 5 holes, tally up your score and brag to the world how you did!

How to Score the Challenge:
Scoring:
1pt for every block on the Mined column under statistics. Click on the Items Mined header to sort the column and add up everything you mined in that column.

Bonus Points (these points are in addition to the total above):

75 pts for dying in lava
50 points for dripleaf, moss, amethyst shard, pointed dripstone
50 pts for killing a mob
25 pts per emerald
20 pts for each non-lava death
10 pts per piece of diamond or clay
5 pts per piece of gold / flint
2 pts per piece of copper, coal, iron, lapis, redstone
