Microsoft launched DirectX 12 Ultimate this year and it could be one of the most important releases this year. Not just because of the new features that allow PC graphics to take the next step in realism, but also because for the first time Both PC and console will be running off the same version of the platform. In previous generations consoles have always lagged behind PC's by as much as 2 generations, meaning that games designed for consoles first often didnt look as good as they potentially could when they came to the PC. Now that has all changed and features like Ray Tracing, Mesh shading and variable rate shading are all baked in ready for either platform.

In this video we take a look at what each of these features means for the future of games and how it will affect PC gamers going forward.
