Codemasters developed and released DIRT 5, a simcade racing video game. The game was launched on 6 November 2020 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, 10 November for Xbox Series X/S, 12 November for PlayStation 5, and 24 March 2021 for Stadia. It was Codemasters' final independent video game before being bought by erstwhile competitor Electronic Arts on February 18, 2021. Dirt 5 is an off-road racing game that features rallycross, ice racing, Stadium Super Trucks, and off-road buggies. Players can compete in events in Arizona, Brazil, China, Greece, Italy, Morocco, Nepal, New York City, Norway, and South Africa, among other places. Seasons and a dynamic weather system are included in the game.
In addition, Dirt 5 has a narrative-driven career mode in which the player character competes in a series of championships against a rival racer named Bruno Durand (voiced by Nolan North). The player is thrust into a world-renowned off-road racing series that offers nonstop intense action across continents in a variety of enhanced events. You attract the notice of Alex Janiek – better known as AJ – as you begin to get your feet wet and generate a noise in the racing scene. In the realm of DIRT, AJ immediately takes you under his wing and shows you what it takes to reach the pinnacle of the sport he has dominated for years.
The Career is divided into five chapters to cover the major plot points. Each chapter has various pathways for the player to pick from, allowing them to choose whatever events they wish to take part in. You may still race in all of the available events, which include over 130 events over nine distinct race styles and every venue in DIRT 5. Complete races to unlock more events in the chapter; the higher your finish position, the more Stamps you'll receive. Each chapter's Main Event requires a particular number of Stamps to unlock, thus the better you do, the faster you may proceed. The completion of each chapter and a more difficult exam for the player are the main events. To advance to the next chapter, you must finish the third or higher level.
In Career mode, you may be sponsored by 20 real-world businesses, like Monster Energy, Sparco, Michelin, Fatlace, and, of course, Codemasters. When you join up with a sponsor, you'll receive special liveries from that brand, stickers to use in the livery editor, and a monetary signing bonus. Each sponsor will have goals for you to achieve in your career, both long and short term. If you do so, your Reputation Rank will rise, leading to an ultimate prize once you reach the top.
The Playgrounds mode in DIRT 5 is a brand-new feature for the DIRT franchise, allowing you to design, build, modify, and compete on your own own racing fields. Create the most innovative and ambitious racing venues using a vast array of objects ranging from bumps, kickers, and ramps to loops, tunnels, and fire rings. Create and capture using fan-favorite and long-time franchise demands with new and updated features. The livery editor in DIRT 5 is the most advanced in the series, allowing you to completely customise the appearance of any car in-game using many layers, styles, and patterns, as well as wheel rim colour options. Take your ideas and show them off in DIRT 5's extraordinarily comprehensive picture mode, which features an easy design and near-endless choices for customising your image.
In Arcade, a custom event maker for offline play, take use of DIRT 5's 10 locales, 70+ courses, and 13 vehicle classes. Create your racing scenario, set the number of AI rivals, difficulty, weather conditions, and lap count before picking your machine and launching into the action, either solo or with your friends through split-screen up to four players. There's also a Time Trial option in Arcade mode, which gives you the same event design freedom in a single-car setting. Choose your event configuration, travel to the track, and focus on creating your best time, which will be compared to the rest of the globe on a global scoreboard.
