Dirty NES cartridge slot (scrambled screen) example - Big Nose the Caveman (recorded 2011-04-05)
With many model 1 (front loading) NES consoles being cleaned up or having console connector pins/cartridge slots replaced, it is probably actually becoming kind of hard to find ways to replicate what would happen when the cartridges or consoles would get dirty. Unlike other systems, the NES would sometimes still try to run the game instead of always giving a solid color screen.
Here I play a few levels to demonstrate how funny the games could look when this happened.
In 2011 I had bought an extra used NES console that hadn't been cleaned. It was only $20. Before cleaning it I decided to record some video of the scrambled graphics. For me it was a bit of nostalgia from being 7 in the early 90s and dealing with my old NES back then.
