Here's how Netherbattle Tournament DLC in Disgaea 4 works. It's four rounds of five matches each and there's no breaks between matches. You only get to pick one of your own characters to participate and for the rest of your team you need to pick from characters that other people have uploaded to it. The reason it's worth doing is you get stat upgrades, lots of XP, and most important of all Laharl's father (Midboss/Krichevskoy).

I'm so glad I went with Tyrant Val since the choice of characters was really, really bad. I mean some people were uploading Lv2 characters with no gear.... so yeah although it's a push over at first difficulty and level differences go up steadily.
