Though Xenolith had lost, Laharl knows he was holding back, especially considering all the dark power he held. Xenolith explains that this was for the sake of Etna, who was earlier revealed to be to be Xenolith's long lost sister. Etna, however, has been very angry and frustrated ever since his revelation (She also wants him to be free of the power that's holding him). She decides that it's time to end this and stabs Xenolith. While it frees Xenolith of his power, it ends up transferring to Etna and it's destroying her from the inside. Xenolith loses his stoicism as he watches his own sister being destroyed by his power. Laharl tells Etna to hold on and fight but Etna knows better and leaves Laharl with her last words...
