Disintegration Is A Messy Mix Of FPS And RTS | Disintegration Campaign Impressions
Disintegration blends FPS and RTS into an uneven mix. In these Disintegration campaign impressions Colm explains why flying bikes don’t quite take off for him, and there’s some shiny Disintegration PC gameplay to enjoy.

As we’ve not been able to test Disintegration multiplayer out in the wild, we are focusing this video on the campaign. The game comes from V1 Interactive, headed up by Marcus Lehto, the former art lead at Bungie. Having worked on Halo he obviously brings a lot of FPS knowhow to the party - and some very striking armour designs - but the mix of FPS and RTS gameplay styles didn’t click for us. The world of the campaign feels too empty, the choices you make too uninvolved. We should add this isn’t a full Disintegration review: we’ve not played the multiplayer beyond a few preview sessions and it’s here we expect many of the game’s systems to make more sense. If there’s an appetite for a deeper Disintegration test, we can dive into the campaign and multiplayer in more depth in a stream at a later date.
It’s a shame that the action didn’t hold together as we love the design of the world, and its always nice to see someone try something different outside of the traditional sci-fi shooter. It’s not an ugly game, as this Disintegration gameplay shows (captured on PC, though the game is coming to PS4 and Xbox, too). If you managed to play the game’s multiplayer beta back in February, please do weigh in with your multiplayer impressions in the comments below. And if you have any questions about Disintegration’s story or campaign, we will happily answer them in the comments. Thanks for watching.
