Disney's Weirdest Theme Park, The Baffling Original Version of California Adventure
Disney's California Adventure is a part of the Disneyland Resort and has become a pretty great park. It didn't start out that way though. It has a really fascinating history! And back when the park first opened it was basically an entirely different them park from what we see now!

In this first episode of Baffling History (A series that will take a look at the odd stories behind famous theme parks and attractions), we take a look at the weird, bizarre, and often terrible version of DCA guests found on opening day back in 2001.
This park had it all! Giant California letters, a fake Golden Gate bridge at the entrance, Golden Dreams, Bountiful Vally Farms (the best place to look at old farm equipment in a Disney Park), Soarin, Grizzly Peak, California Screamin, the Sun Wheel (in all it's terror), and, of course, Hollywood Pictures Backlot. Home of the two worst and weirdest attractions Disney has ever made: Superstar Limo and Steps in Time. This mark is a work of art in how weird it is with oddities around every corner! Let's take a look!

@Defunctland (Hosted by Kevin Perjurer ) is an excellent resource on them park attractions that have closed down and a big inspiration to me. Their episode on Superstar Limo is a great way to learn about Disney's California Adventure

Yesterland is an excellent resource for theme park history. Mostly focused on the Disneyland Resort in California, it does cover Walt Disney World Resort History too! A great resource for pictures and visuals too! A lot of the photos from this video came from this site.

Disneygeek.com features frequent pictorial updates from Disneyland and WDW that explore the parks through the eyes of a frequent guest as well as comments, observations, trip planning tips, suggestions, and other Disney related topics. They're YouTube Channel has some great walking tour videos of 2001 California Adventure!
@Central Florida Sights and Sounds is a terrific resource for them park footage. Usually focused around FL, but they have the BEST recording of Steps in Time on the internet!

Mouse Steps is an excellent Disney fan site with all kinds of info and blog posts for stuff both current and retrospective

Theme Park Review is one of the longest running and most respected sources for them park videos on YouTube! Usually more tongue in cheek in tone than just documentarians.

SoCal Attractions 360 is my personal favorite source for ride through videos. They cover all kinds of attractions and vacation destinations, not just theme parks! Usually focused on newer and modern stuff, not the best source for history or retro content. But amazing for newer stuff!

Last Disney Fan site I'll mention is the Laughing Place Blog. I'm admittedly not super familiar with them, but they were one of the only places I found that talked about the history of Steps in Time. With how quickly that show was closed there wasn't much available for resources and info.
