My written review below. Fanboy bashing and ranting are in the video.

"Dissidia: Final Fantasy" is the newest in the franchise by Square-Enix. It also marks the first time the series has ever dived into the action/fighting/rpg genre. (Ergheiz doesn't count as it's not an FF game and had no rpg elements)

Choose from your favorite heroes or villains from the series. The game contains the main hero, and the main villain from each FF game (FF I-X) with other characters you can unlock as well in this ultimate fan service title, and make all of your dream matches come true.

Does this game live up to it's extreme amount of hype? I don't think it does. I think it's an average fighting game, with some decent rpg elements thrown in. It's basically a fan service title, to hold people over until Final Fantasy XIII. It's not a deep game, and it's not very thrilling, and awfully repetitive. Though thanks to this repetitiveness, the game does have a ton of replay value. That is, if you can stomach doing the same thing over and over again.

I think the game's most important aspect, the fighting, is not very well done, and it's just a bunch of flash and bang to make the fanboys drool, and that's the best feature of the game. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's a bad game, but it certainly isn't the best PSP game ever made, nor is it the best FF title ever made. It would have been much better off if it was an actual rpg instead of a fighting game.

This game has been overrated since Square-Enix announced it, and frankly it astounds me that people had the nerve to bash Castlevania: Judgment for it's fighting system being bland and repetitive, yet praise this game when it essentially has the same core. The graphics are good, the cutscenes are beautiful, and the sound consists of various remixes of classic FF tunes, with some new ones thrown in.

If anything, play this game for it's story mode, which is at least unique. Each hero has a his/her own story with little cut scenes and a board game with various battle conditions for advancing as well as getting bonuses. Because the fighting system is where this game fails the most. Once you've seen all the flashy moves and actions, there isn't much left to it. I know every FF lover out there is gonna to hate me and disagree with me, but that's a given.

Frankly, fanboys don't like being told that the thing they love and obsess over isn't that great. I say, deal with it. I'm a long time fan of FF, and the series has had many great titles. However, this game is plain old AVERAGE. I jokingly refer to this game as "DisSHITTYa" from now on. Deal with it with your tears.
