Nunchaki is an eastern edged weapon of percussion, shock-crushing and suffocating action, which is two identical rods, usually 25-35 cm long, made of solid material, connected by a flexible joint (cord or chain). The rods are traditionally made of wood. Modern nunchucks can also be made of metal, plastic, or fiberglass. can equally serve as a handle or warhead. The cord is connected to the rods (sticks) by threading it through mutually perpendicular channels at the ends of the rods (sticks), and the chain is connected using metal fasteners. Nunchucks connected with a cord are more popular, since some chains that do not have a welded connection and their fasteners break under extreme loads.
Nunchaku is most widely used in martial arts such as Okinawan kobudo and karate, and is used as a training weapon as it allows for faster hand movements and improves posture. In some countries, the possession of these weapons is illegal, except for use in professional martial arts schools.
