E-25 - a project of an experienced tank destroyer weighing about 25 tons.
The contract for the development of a chassis for the E-25 tank destroyer was concluded in the spring of 1943 with the Argus company rude from Karlsruhe. The design was carried out under the direction of Dr. The project of the machine was submitted to the military only in the fall of 1944. The new vehicle resembled the E-10, but had more powerful armament and a greater mass. In January, the Tank Development Commission decided to produce three prototypes for testing. The E-25 hulls began to be assembled at the Alkett plant in Berlin-Spandau, but they could not be completed until the end of the war.
The tanks were supposed to be equipped with a Maybach HL 100 engine with a capacity of 400 hp. from. with the possibility of replacing it with the Maybach HL 101, however, due to delays in the development of these engines, it was decided to install a 600-horsepower air-cooled engine on the tank or an Otto aircraft engine with a capacity of 400 liters. from. However, the last two options were unsuccessful, as a result of which it was decided to install the Maybach HL 230 engine on the E-25. The chassis used the same road wheels as the E-10, but now there were 5 of them per side. It was planned to use 700 mm tracks on the tank. The E-25 had 50 mm frontal armor, 30 mm side armor, and 20 mm aft armor. The roof and bottom had 20 mm armor. It was planned to install a 75-mm PaK L / 70 cannon on the tank destroyer, however, no final decision on armament was made.
