DIY MIDI Accordion Demo - Professor Layton Main Theme (Intro)
I built my own MIDI accordion! http://bvavra.github.io/MIDI_Accordion/
One of the cool things about a MIDI instrument is that you can make it sound like whatever you want. The accordion has three types of functional buttons: bass buttons, chord buttons, and melody keys. I assigned each of them to a different MIDI channel, which gives me the freedom to assign them different instruments. Combine that with digital synthesizer software like Reason and the aural possibilities are endless. With Reason you can even change instruments after recording, which is how I switched the melody from violin to accordion halfway through.
The tune is the first half of the main theme from the Professor Layton games - fun to play, but hard to play well. I've been practicing this tune on and off for a while now, hoping to eventually get the full version recorded on acoustic accordion.
