In today’s video I’ll show you how to emulate the Sega Model 2 Arcade, and it’s suite of games.
For Emulation of the Sega Model 2 I use the Nebula Model 2 Version 1.1a. This is the best standalone Emulator that I know of, and it works well. I’ve seen it work on Non Split, Merged Sets, but we’ll be working with a Split, Non-Merged Set.
The First thing that you’ll need to do is download your rom set. As I’m sure you know I can’t really link to Rom Downloads. What I will say is that when I looked for my set, I found that the internet Archive’s set was a merged set, but it did seem to be most of a full set. I looked around and found a German Site that seems to have the set I wanted. The only thing that sucked about that set is I had to download them one rom at a time. After you’ve downloaded your games, you’re going to need an emulator. As I stated I’ll be using the Nebula Model 2 Version 1.1a This is a very Powerful Emulator, and it runs the suite of games well, but this Emulator is no longer being supported. If you want to download this Emulator you can find the link in my description. I’ll try and provide two links. One will be for the Internet Archive, and it’s “way back” Web Page Archive. The Other will be from a third Party. Please download at your own risk.
After you’ve got it downloaded, we’ll need to install it. Installing this Program is very simple. We simply need to un-zip the download and extract it to your computer. You can use any zip utility you wish. I’ll be using 7zip, as it’s powerful and free, but please feel free to use any Zip utility you’d like. You can Un-zip the files in any area that you’d like.
After you’ve got the files extracted from the Zip folder. We’ll need tell the program where to look. By default the program looks for a folder inside it’s own root directory called roms, and the easiest thing to do is simply place all of your Model 2 roms into your Model 2 root directory in a folder called roms. However, if you wish to place them in another area simply use a Text editor like Notepad plus plus to edit the dot I N I file that’s inside the Model 2 Emulators root folder.
