Featured diztronic cases, from left to right:
-Nexus 6p (with Magnetic Car Mount plate adhered inside)
-Pixel XL
-Pixel 2XL

Video Recorded on a Pixel 2XL.

While the only way to really demonstrate the material composition of these cases is to hold them in your hand and flex them yourself, I recorded this video in an attempt to demonstrate how the amount of TPU used in these cases has been reduced.

While this example is hardly scientific, I feel this lessening of material will slightly compromise the amount of protection you can reasonably expect these cases to provide to your devices in the event of an drop. In the video I bend and twist the case, check the lip that protects the screen, and also try to show a close up of the relative thickness of the case via the fingerprint reader cut-out.

More material means thicker case, which means better impact protection. And yes, I'm aware the 6p case has a magnetic plate inside it, which is why I bended all three cases in areas that would not directly attempt to bend in the same location as the metal plate location of the 6p case.

My point is this: The Nexus 6p case used more material than the Pixel XL case. This makes it MORE rigid/stiff, and with more material it is able to resist damage from impact more successfully.

The Pixel 2XL case uses notably less material than even the Pixel XL case, and it feels flimsier and is more prone to bending. When similar amounts of stress are placed on each case, the 2XL case is less resistant to bending.

Because it uses less material, I feel less confident in the cases ability to prevent damage from impact (such as falling and hitting the corner of the phone).

This does not mean these cases are BAD. They feel good in the hand, and the buttons are the clickiest in the business. But I've gotten used to a certain level of protection over the years I owned a Nexus 6p, and I'm disappointed that the follow-up cases just don't feel as sturdy as the previous cases did.

Thanks for watching.
