dluxx7 plays..Desert Breaker (1992, Arcade): 1 only player full play through
(NOTE: For some unknown reason, the game audio quality gets crackly and bad at 26:40...Apologies to earphone users)
Time for a welcomed change of pace!
As is my tradition, when coming to the end of a play through project, I do a full play through of a random game (usually arcade) from start to finish, just to help me unwind before my next big project undertaking.
Seeing that it was 4th of July just a few days ago, what better way to commemorate the occasion than with a run and gun, explode things, over the top fun action shooter by SEGA. More importantly, the game also features a cameo by decorated American war hero of the 1992 Iraq Gulf War Norman "Stormin" Schwarzkopf Jr who appears at the start of a stage to give our heroes the mission debriefing. Nothing says Happy 4th of July America than that I guess?? lol.
Desert Breaker is a 1 or 2 player co op overhead run and gun released in 1992 for the arcade, published and developed by SEGA.
Basically, you play as one of three secret ops who must save some unidentified land from a technologically advanced invading enemy army. The game is your standard overhead run and gun affair, with the player taking out various enemy types from soldiers, gun turrets even mechbots, all the while picking up power ups, weapons and health items and eventually fighting an end stage boss before moving on to the next mission. There a 3 stages in total, though they are rather lengthy.
A unique feature of the game is that before the start of a stage, the player can assign what area on the mission map will have an assisted bombing, which is when the player reaches that part of the map, a bomber will fly overhead and nuke all enemies on the field. Neat.
Here, I do a single player only full play through from start to finish. Expect many credit feeding and continues in use here (No 1CC stuff here Im afraid).
(Please note, this game is not intended to demonstrate skill or speed run strats, rather it is purely for recreation, posterity and entertainment's sake).
Enjoy and thanks for watching.
