Does one weapon beat another? - Comparing strengths & weaknesses
In roleplaying games there are of course lots of stats involved that make one weapon better than another, but how do different swords, axes, spears etc compare from the perspective of historical (European) martial arts?
In earlier videos I already explained why there is no single ultimate "best" sword and that the outcome of a fight is mainly determined by the fighters' skill and physical fitness.
However, all other things being equal, one particular weapon can in some cases offer an advantage against another. It's pretty obvious when you imagine a dagger going up against a spear. For practical purposes extra reach means extra speed / reaction time, which is crucial in combat.
