Does the AMD Ryzen 3 3100 work fine for 1440P Gaming?
Many said that going higher in resolution means you have less to worry about CPU power, is this true?
Based on my test here where I pit the lowly AMD Ryzen 3 3100 against the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X - it seems that this is true, for the most part at least.
The AMD Ryzen 9 5900X is the clear winner but being more than 5 times the price at $549, compared to $99 of the AMD Ryzen 3 3100. Factor in that the clear win is only in 3 out of the 10 titles tested while the 7 other titles shows negligible lead and in some titles they work the same.
That doesn't mean you should hold on or get AMD Ryzen 3 3100 though, unless you're short of funds or something. It's best to aim for something higher like Ryzen 5 3600 to Ryzen 7 3700X if you can, just understand that going higher like the Ryzen 5 5600X and up may not be beneficial as the gains may not be tangible at all depending on the titles you play.
