This is a 101% No Major Glitches (NMG) speedrun of the original Donkey Kong Country in 53:14 (in-game time 0:43). No Major Glitches is a fairly new category and means that this run does not use the major glitches most other categories of speedruns use. These are:

Jumprolls, Superjumps, Super Jump Rolls, Mapwarps, Wrongwarps, Minecart Glitch, Split-Up Glitch, Animal Buddy Glitch and Bonus Skips (you must enter a bonus room before using start+select).

This was played on the SNES Classic Mini, which is game version 1.2. Some of the above glitches are fixed in this version so are impossible to perform anyway. Most other categories require 1.0 or 1.1 in order to utilise all glitches.

Two major mistakes cost me a chunk of time in this run. In Snow Barrel Blast, I shot myself out of a barrel straight up 3 times before I got the angle right. Lost time in Poison Pond as well when I took an unintentional hit on a mincer and lost Enguarde. Thankfully I managed to catch him relatively quickly. Finally in Platform Perils I unintentionally lost Diddy near the start, luckily it was right next to a DK barrel and was able to get him back quickly but it was still a dumb mistake that cost me time. A few other minor mistakes and some sloppy play here and there but nothing else too major.

Without those errors a sub 53 is easily possible but I haven't really had time to attempt another run since this one. The other hits you see me take, for example in Stop and Go Station and the world 5 boss fight, are intentional. This was originally recorded on April 24th 2018.
