Absolutely garbage boss. Everything about this is luck, where he throws the bombs, where he flies after the phase transition and in Phase 2 if he'll throw normal bombs, ones that detonate early, or fake bombs.
Also, getting in 3 bombs per cycle in time in extremely tight, even moreso in the second phase where he's above ground level for throws. I honestly don't even know how what I did worked.
Another problem is that if a bomb lands on you while you have one in your hand, they knock each other away.
A few pointers...
- Bomb throws *are* vaguely aimed, but with a luck factor, so standing on the side does help.
- He greatly favors right side after the phase transition (though sadly left side is faster ideally).
This seems to be regardless of your position.
- In Phase 2 he will attempt to throw bombs until he's thrown out three I believe. They're just not guaranteed to be the first three throws, as you can see here.

Oh, and the greatest part? This is the one boss where watching the opening cutscene saves you time! So optimally every attempt you're gonna spend an extra 30 seconds with no gameplay! Awesome!
