This is the Game Over screen in Donkey Kong Country Returns. If you managed to lose all of your extra balloons (which is bound to happen in some Level-K stages), you will be subjected to depressing music, which is effectively re-instigated from the original Donkey Kong Country's Game Over theme. The main difference is that this time, they don't appear beaten up with bandages and black-eyes, which may reduce the impact the original screen gave. Here, they just hang their heads down, waiting for you to decide their fate.

You are given two choices:

- If you continue, you will be given four (4) extra balloons and brought back to the map screen.

- Should you quit, DK and Diddy let out of sigh of frustration and you go back to the menu screen with zero balloons. However, the moment you select that file, Cranky will give you four balloons for free.
