The goal with any wound care is to promote healthy growth! (Preferably physically and mentally, but in this case it's physical!) Hydrocolloid on its own does not contain an antibiotic so they're not great for wounds that have an infection and can actually help create an ideal environment for bacterial growth (moist and warm).
