Check out http://www.learntheleague.com/ebook to learn about my complete League of Legends book!

Galio is a fantastic champion, being a strong burst caster (or tank if you really need) and simultaneously being stellar at locking out enemy burst casters. I actually worked on this guy because I looked up "Don't Feed Galio" on my channel and realized I had never made a movie for him. I used to play him enough that this surprised me.

I'm not very good w/ shields as far as personal play. I mention in the guide that you should shield yourself prior to ulting in most cases, but I didn't do that terribly often because I didn't want to fumble up the ult itself. Be better than me!

RECOMMENDED BUILD
The following is for building him as an Ability Power caster, not as a tank.

Summoner Spells: Flash / Ignite

Runes: Ability Power reds, Armor yellows, Magic Resist blues, Ability Power reds

Masteries: 21/9/0 with a focus on magic damage in offensive (though 9/21/0 can be good if you need to be tankier)

Skills: R, Q, E, W under normal circumstances. However, his abilities are situational and you may want to prioritize them differently (i.e. you've been killed early and are being harassed, get more points in shield, etc). One point in W is necessary early regardless.

ITEMS
Merc Treads or Sorc Shoes. Merc Treads are nice for the minor bonus AP they add on top of everything else, but they're not a be-all end-all choice for you since Tenacity will do nothing to stop people from instantly breaking your ultimate. Up to you.

Are you getting blue buffs? If not, you need at least a Chalice, if not an Athene's Unholy Grail, unless you can safely move in melee range and normal attack minions to kill them (usually not possible). Prioritize these. Otherwise, at least one Doran's is usually smart for mana.

You'll want some tankiness, but how much is up to you. Rod of Ages is a great early tanky item, especially the Catalyst the Protector component. However, Abyssal Scepter is also strong, and may be enough for what you need.

From this point on, you choose whether you're going tankier or more ability power. Rabadon's Death Cap and Void Staff are strong next choices for straight ability power. Zhonya's Hourglass and Guardian Angel are good for a bit tankier. For super tanky, as necessary, consider either Force of Nature or Zhonya's/Thornmail.

In the end, he's pretty flexible in builds, but the thing you have to respect is that you'll be in melee range when you want to deal your burst. Either kill your opponents quickly or be able to survive them long enough to get your next round of burst out.

Next Don't Feeds are likely to be either Syndra or Cassiopeia. No guarantees on either, and as people watching the stream know, I have a vacation coming up this weekend so I don't know how long it will take to get the next one out.
