As always with the following recommendations: These are personal opinion and the best choices will depend on who you're up against. These recommendations might become outdated over time. That's why they're down here and not in the movie.

The following recommendations are for playing Lux as an Ability Power Carry.

Runes: Magic Pen reds, Mana Regen yellows, AP or CDR blues, AP quints.

Masteries: 21/0/9 with a focus on magic damage in offensive. Alternatively, heavy Support is fine on Lux, provided you're picking up all the CDR.

Skills: R, then E, then Q, then W. Get one early point in Q and W.

Summoners: Flash/Ignite. I've seen a number of pro players using Teleport on her very effectively since she can very easily get damage and a laser out even if someone is backing off when she starts porting.

Items:
Boots and 3x health pots, or Flask and 3x health pots. T1 Boots aren't as big as they were in S2, but they'll still help if you're against a skillshot champion.

T2 boots should be either magic pen or cooldown reduction. It depends on how much CDR you'll be reliably getting from other sources (blue golem, offensive items, etc).

Beyond this, Athene's Unholy Grail, Rabadon's Deathcap, and Void Staff are all excellent core items.

If you're going to be closer to your opponents (for your passive), a Deathfire Grasp and Lich Bane are absolutely fantastic. I'll emphasize their limited range, though, and that they are not something you should pick up in every match-up.

Beyond this, Liandry's can be good. Lux also performs situationally well with Mejai's Soulstealer, provided you keep your distance. Pick up Morellonomicon if an opponent relies on any healing.

If you need more survivability (either by being in close, or because of initiators getting to you) Rod of Ages and Zhonya's are good. Zhonya's is more reliably good if you are going to get focused. Go even heavier with Banshee's and Guardian Angel if absolutely necessary.

ABOUT THE VIDEO
I'm fairly happy with the end product, but I see a few places I'd like to improve this series as well. There are a number of things I've learned since starting this project that I wasn't able to implement into this first episode, and after seeing the end product, there are a number of ways I feel this could be improved.

For example, I'd like to move each of the titles into After Effects and improve the visibility of the "Ability Mechanics" link in the upper left. I'm also going to add a more formalized ending with video links, but didn't have time to get it done and still release this on time. I'm not totally sure how I want to balance gameplay, whiteboarding, and staged examples. I'm not sure if I hit the right balance w/ this video (feel free to let me know).
