So we playing some Minecraft. But not really.
We're using the TerraFirmaPunk mod pack which is based around the mod TerraFirmaCraft.
TerraFirmaCraft was made to make minecraft"the way it should have been". While I don't exactly agree with this, I think its a great mod at what it does which is almost completely re-write the game to a point where it is unrecognizable and unplayable to even a Minecraft veteran, if such a person exists.
Everything now takes a lot longer to do and is much harder and expensive. This mod's inspiration seems to be making a slightly more realistic experience. Wanna make armor out of metal? You need to heat it and beat it to complete it.
Wanna grow crops? Make sure it's the right time of year and the soil is good.
Wanna build a house? Gravity will quickly pull down your expectations.
But at the end of the day the mod is a great challenge and a fantastic way to reinvigorate the game for experienced gamers and the increased difficulty sure does reward success.. It may be harder and highly restrictive compared to vanilla minecraft but the mod also increases the creative possibilities with many more materials to choose from and some more functions for finer tuning of your designs.
I like it for the challenge though because just being not dead is a big enough challenge.
