Doom 2 "The Rebirth" Map 5: The Complex (UV Max 3:34)
4I've spent far too much time on this map. Firstly I took the jump from the ZDoom to the PrBoom port (since all the big names seem to be using it) (v. 2.5.0.6) and it took some time adjusting. Secondly I took it upon myself to replicate or at least come close to the performance of Skepticist on this Doomworld thread:

I failed miserably. The time to beat is 2:52. My best effort (see video) is 3:34.
There are two maneuvers that I cannot replicate at the moment. The first is to run through the demons downstairs while the chaingunners are shooting at you and the cacodemon (at around 0:50). They always corner me when I engage the chaingunners in the far end room and I die. So I have to take the slower route of first killing them with the single-barrelled shotgun while trying to get the chaingunners upstairs to also inflict some damage.
The second manuever is at around the 2:35 mark which involves getting both hell knights to get on to the lowering platform so I could kill them faster with the double-barrelled shotgun. It rarely happens that I time it correctly so that one of them is on the platform. Instead, they both seem to get stuck on the edges so I have to kill them from below.
There were also a few small errors such as missed shots and running out of ammo towards the end (so that I had to kill the last few cacodemons later). But finally I got what is for me a decent time. I think I will let this one rest for now!
