(English below) Doom 3: Phobos es una campaña hecha por fans que lleva años en desarrollo. Yo jugué hace unos 3 años a los dos primeros episodios y hace unos días publicaron el episodio 3, que ahora mismo no sé si es el último o aun piensan hacer alguno más (cuando juegue al episodio 3 supongo que lo sabré). Este vídeo contiene el prólogo, que es toda la introducción a la historia, y el Episode 1: Overdue.

Este mod es una curiosa mezcla de géneros, pues tenemos las partes típicas de un Doom 3 con zonas muy bien hechas que no desentonarían en el juego original por su calidad, y están intercalada con secciones de historia que recuerdan al de algunos conocidos "walking simulators", con mucho énfasis en aspectos sentimentales de amor, pérdida, misterio, etc., secciones en las que apenas hay acción. De hecho, en los créditos podemos ver que se han inspirado en los juegos de Frictional Games y Don't Nod.

Esto seguramente no convenza a los que buscan una experiencia 100% Doom 3 y de acción pura y dura, a mi desde luego no me convencen, pero esta extraña mezcla me resulta curiosa y me parece muy bien que los desarrolladores del mod hayan querido dar su particular visión. En cualquier caso merece la pena pasar por ese trámite con tal de jugar a las secciones de Doom 3 de toda la vida, que están genial y contienen alguna sorpresa para los fans de Doom.

El mod solo funciona en el Doom 3 clásico con la expansión, no sirve la BFG Edition ni el source port dhewm3. Yo lo juego con la versión de GOG. Aquí se indica como poner Doom 3 en 4K y widescreen:

Doom 3: Phobos is a fan-made campaign that has been in development for years. I played about 3 years ago the first two episodes and a few days ago they released episode 3, which right now I don't know if it's the last one or they still plan to do some more (when I play episode 3 I guess I'll know). This video contains the prologue, which is the whole introduction to the story, and Episode 1: Overdue.

This mod is a curious mix of genres, as we have the typical parts of a Doom 3 with very well done areas that would not clash in the original game for its quality, and are interspersed with sections of story reminiscent of some known “walking simulators”, with much emphasis on sentimental aspects of love, loss, mystery, etc., sections in which there is hardly any action. In fact, in the credits we can see that they have been inspired by the games of Frictional Games and Don't Nod.

This surely will not convince those looking for a 100% Doom 3 experience and pure action, it certainly do not convince me, but this strange mixture is curious to me and I think it's great that the developers of the mod wanted to give their particular vision. In any case it is worth going through that parts to play the classic Doom 3 sections, which are great and contain some surprises for Doom fans.
