This video was captured using the actual game on an actual Gamecube Game Boy Advance player.

This is Doom. There are many other versions of this game but this one is special. IT'S PORTABLE! Sure there are other portable versions now days but this one clearly stands out even from those versions. This one has fantastic play control. I got to play Doom on my cousin's i-pod touch, and while it was automatically cool just because it was Doom, I couldn't help but think how uncool the stupid touchscreen controls were. Not only is there no precision with soft controls, but you also end up covering up things you need to see with your thumbs. The GBA's controls are similar to that of the PS1 port's controls. They are outstanding. The game play is very fast and smooth like Doom should be.

The GBA version of Doom is far from a perfect port as you can see from the video. The music in the first level is actually the music from the second stage and the music is always a level behind because of this. The music quality for the most part is acceptable. It's better than no music and still worlds apart from the awful music on the Sega 32X port. I haven't played this port long enough to know which levels are missing, but I have heard that there are definitely missing levels. The blood has also been replaced with green ooze.

Even though this game has it's flaws, they are to be expected since this is a portable Nintendo console. However despite it being on the GBA which runs Doom in a lower resolution than most versions, it still blows up on the TV quite nicely with the Game Boy Player. Now if your gonna play Doom on your TV you should obviously play the PS1 port. But if you want Doom on the go you still can't beat this version because of the tight controls.

Just a note that Doom II on the GBA doesn't feel or play the same as Doom on the GBA. I don't know why it doesn't, but I couldn't stand Doom II when I played it on the VBA emulator, but I liked Doom alot.
